I was able to review a few books for the month of September and I enjoyed all of them! I’m excited to share them with you!
Always We Begin Again: Stepping Into the Next, New Moment by Leeana Tankersley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book is broken down into 100 daily short readings, but once I picked it up I could not just read one, I sat and read multiple readings at one sitting. We all have felt at one time or another stuck and broken and don’t know how to pick back up to start again…This book gives encouragement and motivation that each day is a new beginning and all it takes is one small step to move forward. I really like how this book didn’t seem “too devotional-like” to me. She mentions God and there are some Scriptures sprinkled throughout, but I think if someone is struggling and does not know Christ or doesn’t want anything to do with Him during their hard time, this book would be an excellent encouragement to them without the “preachiness”, but at the same time still has the deeper meaning/perspective of God throughout the book. I will be buying several of these and giving as gifts to people I know that are going through tough times. Such an encouraging and motivating book!

Confident Moms, Confident Daughters: Helping Your Daughter Live Free from Insecurity and Love How She Looks by Maria Furlough
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I think the Goodreads description describes this book best:
“Every mother wants her daughter to love the skin she’s in, to be free of insecurity and poor body image. But no matter how much we try to tell our daughters that they are beautiful and lovable as they are, words are not enough. And if we’re honest, we don’t always set the best example of being body confident. Until we truly see ourselves as good enough, our girls will struggle.
What we say to our daughters might last a moment. What we show our daughters lasts a lifetime. With God’s help, we can put aside our obsession with bodily perfection and refocus on becoming and raising godly women.”
I have two girls and I know that I don’t want them growing up feeling all the feelings I felt growing up. Also, I think the world they are growing up in nowadays is a lot tougher than what I grew up in – I think there is a lot more of comparing that is going on due to social media and many other things. I love the premise of this book about how we as moms before we can instill confidence in our daughters, we need to look at ourselves and deal with our insecurities and struggles. Actions speak louder than words, and if we reflect confidence then our girls will hopefully see that and incorporate it into their lives as well.

Take Back Your Time: Identify Your Priorities, Decrease Stress, and Increase Productivity by Morgan Tyree
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
When I saw what the subject of this book was about, I knew I wanted to read it. Ever since having my girls, time has definitely not been on my side. There are so many good takeaways from this book and I am looking forward to implementing them in my life.
The author talks about figuring out what your goals are and prioritizing your day the best way in order to accomplish them. This book is more then a time management book, it is a guide filled with practical tools/tips to help you become intentional about how you spend your time. I was glad to see that the author stressed the importance of how everyone’s life/season is different and that this isn’t a one size fits all method. She encourages you to take her approach and modify it to fit what season of life we are currently in. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is always tired of feeling busy and wants to learn how to manage their time better!

A Redesigned Life: Uncovering God’s Purpose When Life Doesn’t Go as Planned by Tracy Davis Steel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book is so unique in that the author ties together the concept of interior design and how God is the designer of your life. The author has such a heart for encouraging women to see that our plan for our life might not be God’s plan and that His design is way better than we could ever imagine. Something from the book that stood out to me was when she said in regards to life not turning out the way you expected was: “Realize that you are beautifully gifted to do something else with your life and that God is redesigning you so that you can bless the lives of others and bring glory to Him. Don’t be all the things, just be you-things. Your emphasis matters in God’s eyes.” What an encouragement that is, that God can/will use us in the way only He can. Such an encouraging book with added bonuses of home design tips scattered throughout!
