Anne, at In Residence, hosts a linkup on the first Wednesday of every month and invites readers to share a few things that they are currently up to. Be sure to head over to Anne’s blog and see what everyone is up to this month.
choosing – A word for the year. I have settled on the word purposeful. The definition according to Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary is
- having a purpose: such as meaningful/intentional
- full of determination
There are things in my life I want to change and I know I need to be intentional and have determination to follow through with them so I will make the changes. This word just encompasses how I want to tackle these changes this year.
tidying – My house. I am so ready to clear the clutter in our house and get rid of unnecessary things that just waste time and attention. One of my “intentions” this year is to go room by room in our house and ruthlessly clear it of things that are not needed. I am so excited about this and am excited to see how it helps transform our little family by giving us more time, space, and freedom and how it affects our home-life.
resolving – I am resolving to read through the Bible this year. I have never read it all the way through and I am ready to accomplish it this year!
exploring – Our little region we live in. We live in northwest Arkansas which consists mainly of 4 or 5 little/medium towns that are typically all combined together and referred to as NWA. There are so many things to do/see here and we do not take advantage of living in this beautiful area at all. We just go eat at the same places, go to work/home/school, etc…and I told Robert the other night that I want us to pretend we are tourists in NWA and let’s go experience things that we haven’t done or wouldn’t usually do just because we live here. So before spring, I am wanting to come up with a bucket list of places to go visit/eat/do around here that we tackle little by little throughout the year.
refreshing – In December I guess you could say I “refreshed” my hairstyle…I got bangs. I haven’t had bangs since I was in elementary school and I have to say I really like them! I’ve been wanting to do it for awhile, but just didn’t have the courage. Then I ordered some “fake bangs” from Amazon to try and see what they would look like and I really liked it, so I went for it! They are more work, but I am enjoying them and Robert even says he likes them, so that’s a plus.
Anyways…I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays and are excited about starting the New Year refreshed and focused! Check back in on February 6th when we will be discussing what we are currently anticipating, going, making, watching, and wearing!
Until next time…keep it simple!

Purposeful is such a great word for the year, though I’m sure it will be challenging at times as well! Also that’s awesome that you are resolving to read through the Bible in a year! I have done that for the past five years, and I get so much out of reading through the whole Bible in a year.

Thanks so much for your encouragement! I’m really looking forward to reading through the Bible this year!

How fun to have a fresh hair style! And I’m all about the ruthless tidying right now too. It just feels so good to clean out.
