Happy Tuesday everyone! I can honestly say I really enjoyed every book I read this month. They all were welcome distractions from all the craziness that COVID-19 has caused.

Virgin River by Robyn Carr
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Shelter Mountain by Robyn Carr
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I started my month off with two books from the Virgin River series. Back in January when I was sick I got hooked on the Virgin River series on Netflix and when I saw they were based upon a book series I knew I wanted to read them. They did not disappoint. They are nice easy reads that were very enjoyable to read. Hoping I am able to find the rest of the books through my library digital resources because I am looking forward to reading more of this series.
Verity by Colleen Hoover
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
So I had heard this book mentioned before on different blogs/podcasts and just added to my to-be-read list to be read in the future sometime. But then my friend/coworker told me about it and said she couldn’t put it down and wanted to talk about it with me once I read it. So I decided to go ahead and read it and boy it was not what I was expecting. I am still questioning the ending and trying to figure out my thoughts about it. It was a book that I didn’t want to put down because I wanted to see how it ended.
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I’m a little slow to read this one, even though so many people have raved about it, the description held me back from reading it. I decided I wanted to start watching the series on Hulu and I’m weird in that I have to read things before watching it, so I went ahead and requested it from my library’s Libby/Overdrive. Now that I’ve read it, I’m sorry it took me so long to read it…I really enjoyed it! I’ve also started the series on Hulu and I’m only a couple of episodes in, but I’m liking it so far.
Here is a quote that really got me and put into words something I had been thinking about recently before reading the book and didn’t know how to express. “To a parent, your child wasn’t just a person: your child was a place, a kind of Narnia, a vast eternal place where the present you were living and the past you remembered and the future you longed for all existed at once.”
Life and Other Inconveniences by Kristan Higgins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
So this book took me quite awhile to get into (I don’t think it was the book, but me just being in some kind of reading slump for a bit), but I’m glad I stuck it out and continued reading it. I ended up staying up late one night just to finish it. I might have teared up towards the end and it made me feel all the feels (in a good way!).
I really enjoyed this line in it – “You forget what it is to rely on someone, to trust someone, to feel so full of happiness just because one person—your person—has chosen you.” It made me stop and be thankful for Robert and that he is my person and that he chose me.
All the Ways We Said Goodbye by Beatriz Williams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I wasn’t sure how a book written by three different authors would work. I was afraid it would be choppy and confusing to follow, but no it wasn’t like that at all. I admit it took me a few chapters in to remember all the people and which storyline they belonged to, but once I got that down…it drew me in. I loved how all the storylines intersected in some way. They were pretty predictable and I figured out how they intersected long before they were revealed, but I still enjoyed it a lot! I have a couple of books on my TBR lists by these authors and am looking forward to reading them even more now!
Here is a quote from this book to leave on. I think this is pretty relevant to the “new normal” we all are trying to live with right now. “Just because your life will be different, that doesn’t mean it can’t still be beautiful.”
Until next time…keep it simple.

Little Fires Everywhere was excellent. I think I liked Everything I Never Told You more but this was a good one.
I enjoyed Verity but not as much as others. The romance part was so ill-fitting to the rest of the plot it kind of ruined it for me.

Good quote from that last one, very applicable to now.
I loved Verity and Little Fires.

I’ve been wanting to watch Little Fires Everywhere– I haven’t heard too much about it so I’m glad to hear you’re liking it so far. I’m reading Just Mercy– something that has been on my tbr forever, but I want to watch the movie, so it finally convinced me to start the book.

I haven’t read Little Fires Everywhere but I am so curious about it since it has been so popular in recent years AND Reese Witherspoon and Kelly Washington star in the TV version, so it HAS to be good! I will need to add it to my TBR!!
My March reads are linked in my name if interested!
