Reading Lately – May 2020

Well, here I am posting books I read in May and it’s almost time to post about the books I read in June. The past few weeks have been full of lots of stress, prayers, and big changes for me and I just could not get motivated to get this post done. Ironically all I’ve wanted to do is sit and read, read, read.

One in a Million by Lindsey Kelk

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was such a cute book! It took a little while for me to get into it, but I’m glad I stuck with it because I definitely got hooked and am so glad I finished it! It made me think of a modern day My Fair Lady, but instead of the man making over the woman, it was the opposite. And what made it modern-day was that it included social media, bloggers/influencers and two unlikely people to be together. At times, it was a little far-fetched, but it was a great light-hearted escapist kind of book. I might try some more books from this author once our library reopens (nothing from this author is available on our library’s Overdrive/Libby – insert sad face here).

Hadley Beckett’s Next Dish by Bethany Turner

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Little Bookshop of Love Stories by Jaimie Admans

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was such a cozy read. It was perfect to read at night before falling asleep. Imagine learning you won a bookstore the same day you lost your job! Incorporate the “little mysteries” of finding love letters written on inside covers of books throughout the shop and searching for the writers of those notes and seeing what ever become of the “love stories”, was the excellent recipe for such a sweet and fun read! Other than it being a tad on the long side, I loved the storylines throughout and that it was such a “feel-good” book and one I’d recommend if you are looking for a comfy read!

Ebook – I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Second Chance Pass by Robyn Carr

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

All I Want for Christmas: An Anthology by Robyn Carr

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Temptation Ridge by Robyn Carr

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I’m still on my “Virgin River” series kick! I absolutely love this series! They are such easy books to read and I have fallen in love with the small town of Virgin River and all the people that live there. One of my favorite things about this series is that each book is about a different character in the town and most of the time that character had been introduced briefly in a previous book. Typically that would overwhelm me thinking that there are too many characters to keep up with and remember, but this author does such a great job of not making it feel overwhelming and making you feel stressed out about having to remember every character and their storylines.

I hope everyone’s month is going well! I’m so sorry this post is a bit later than I typically like to have it posted by, but the past few weeks have just been crazy! Check back in a couple of weeks when I’ll have a post of the books I read in June!

Until next time…Keep It Simple!
