November Reads
A Bridge Across the Ocean – Susan Meissner ♥♥♥
This book was a nice, easy read. The subject matter wasn’t really believable to me, but I did enjoy the aspect of a story being told in both present day and in the past and how the paths intersect (I’m a sucker for those types of books). The ending had a somewhat of a twist (I have to say that I did see it coming) and overall was an enjoyable read. I have read a couple other books by this author and have enjoyed all of them.
A Wrinkle in Time (Time Quintet, #1) – Madeleine L’Engle ♥♥♥♥
This book has been on my TBR for awhile. Since the movie is coming out soon I thought I should probably go ahead and read it. I am not typically a “fantasy book” type of person, but this was a fun read. I know a lot of people who have read this when they were younger, but I enjoyed it even as an adult. It definitely is a classic book that spans generations and appeals to young and old alike. I didn’t realize that this was part of a series, so the rest of the series have been added to my TBR as well.
December Reads
Sisters First: Stories from Our Wild and Wonderful Life – Jenna Bush Hagar, Barbara Pierce Bush ♥♥♥
This book was an interesting look into what it was like growing up being the “First Daughters” of the United States. I don’t know about you, but I have often wondered what it would have been like to grow up in the White House. This book answers several of those questions and I enjoyed the honest and refreshing viewpoint from both of these girls. I also enjoyed seeing the Bush family dynamic and what a close-knit family they are.
Murder on the Orient Express (Hercule Poirot, #10) – Agatha Christie ♥♥♥♥♥
This was my first Agatha Christie read and I enjoyed it tremendously! I can’t believe it has taken me this long to read an Agatha Christie novel. I loved how it all tied together at the end. I can not wait to see the movie and I will be adding some more Agatha Christie on my TBR for 2018.
The Light We Lost – Jill Santopolo ♥♥♥♥
This book has been on my TBR list for awhile. I have been on the waitlist at the library for a long time and it finally became available. This was a nice, easy read and I enjoyed the storyline very much. It is a story about first love and the twists and turns of fate. Very enjoyable read!
Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine – Gail Honeyman ♥♥♥♥♥
This book was another 5 star read for me in the month of December (first one being Agatha Christie). I got so emotionally invested in Eleanor and her life. I cheered Eleanor on throughout it and cried when different parts of her young, hard life was revealed throughout. This got all the emotions from me! Can not wait to read more from this author!
The Bookshop on the Corner – Jenny Colgan ♥♥♥
This was a great book to wind the year down on. It was a comforting read about a woman who pursues her dream and finds a whole new life and love for herself while at the same time helping people. It was just a great feel-good book and I am adding more books by this author to my 2018 TBR list.
Overall, I enjoyed my November and December reads a lot and by reading these, my 2018 TBR list has grown a lot!!!
I am happy to report that I met my 2017 Goodreads challenge. My goal was to read 30 books and I far exceeded that. I read 53 books…I don’t know how that happened especially since I had a newborn this year, but it did. I am enjoying tracking my books I’ve read not only on Goodreads (you can find me here), but also on Instagram (@SimplyMaude or #lindseyreads2018 for the upcoming year).

good to hear you liked murder on the orient express, i just started it and it’s my first by her as well. A Wrinkle in Time is on my TBR, i want to read it before the movie as well. i am also currently reading Eleanor Oliphant but only a few pages in. i keep getting distracted by other books lol.

I want to read Wrinkle in Time before the movie comes out too. It sounds like a series I would have loved as a child so it bums me that I missed out reading from a child’s eyes. Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine is currently on my nightstand and my next book. Here’s hoping I enjoy it as much as you did!

I hadn’t read A Wrinkle in Time until grad school but I really loved it too. It’s the only one in the series I’ve read though. Yay for reading and loving Agatha Christie. I really love her books. The movie for Murder on the Orient Express was really well done, I thought.
