Today I am linking up with Shay at “Mix and Match Mama” with the What’s Up Wednesday link-up. This is one of my favorite posts I do every month. I think it will be fun to go back and look through these and see what was going on in life during this past year.
First of all, sorry I have been MIA the past month. Life has been crazy and I honestly have not had much time to myself to do things I’d like to do like this. Not complaining…just telling it like it is. But for now…I have healthy kids and hopefully getting back into some semblance of a routine. Hopefully I will start being more consistent with my posting…I miss it!
What We’re Eating This Week: I found this trail mix at Walgreens (it’s their Nice brand) and it is so yummy!
I have been eating Tyson grilled chicken nuggets for lunch at work the past couple of weeks. They sort of remind me of Chik-fil-a’s grilled chicken nuggets. I like them because you just heat them up in the microwave…so easy. I have been keeping a bag in the freezer at work and just warm up a few every day.
What I’m Reminiscing About: Since it is getting close to Emmalyn’s birthday I always start reminiscing about her birth and just all the feelings that came along with her around this time of year. I can’t believe it’s been 4 years already. She is such a fun and sweet girl!
What I’m Loving: I finally went to see “The Greatest Showman” and loved it!!!
Such a great feel-good movie and I love how it teaches a lesson in that more things are not always better…at the end of the day it is the people and relationships you have that matter. The music and all the colors/costumes…just phenomenal! I cannot wait to see it again!!!
What We’ve Been Up To: A couple of weekends ago, Robert and I took an overnight trip to Tulsa. Sometimes we like to do this to just get away and spend time with each other. The grandparents (both sets) enjoy watching the girls and I get a FULL night’s sleep. Win-win for everyone!!!
This past weekend Emmalyn had two birthday parties she had been invited to. One of them was at a place called Fun City (reminds me of a Chuck E. Cheese type place) and the kids always have so much fun there. The other was at the birthday girl’s house and the theme was Frozen and the mom decorated it so nice and had fun games for the kids to play. It rained pretty much all weekend, so it was nice to have these two parties to go to in order to let some of Emmalyn’s energy out!
What I’m Dreading: Emmalyn has a dentist appointment in March and at our last one the dentist saw a cavity and said that we will determine at this appointment if we needed to get it filled right now or if we can hold off. We’ve put sealant on it, trying to help it not get worse and to maybe put off having to do the filling for awhile. But the dentist said it’s just a matter of time…crossing fingers that it isn’t worse and that we won’t have to do the filling for a few more months.
What I’m Working On: I have been working on planning Emmalyn’s 4th birthday party. I am not a good event planner, so this type stuff stresses me out. I just have to keep reminding myself that I know it will be fine and at the end of the day it doesn’t have to be perfect….what matters is that Emmalyn will have good time with her friends and family no matter if the decorations are not just so-so or the cake isn’t exactly decorated the way I envisioned.
What I’m Excited About: I was able to be on Jamie Ivey’s book launch team for “If You Only Knew” and she is coming to NWA in March. I got tickets to a private event she is doing and I am so excited about meeting her in person! I have been a fan of her podcast “The Happy Hour” for a long time, so getting to meet her will be so fun!
What I’m Watching/Reading:
- Watching: Robert and I watched “Stranger Things”. We finally are caught up to the end of Season 2. It is such a strange show and something that neither of us would ever watch on our own, but for some reason it draws you in and we are hooked. I’ve been watching “Fuller House” too. I am almost caught up and finished with Season 3. It is such a cheesy show, but brings back a lot of nostalgia from watching “Full House”. It’s such a light-hearted, good clean fun type of show and with the different things going on in my life that is what I feel like I need right now.
- Reading: Check back for my Book Report post for January and February sometime in the next couple of weeks.
What I’m Listening To: I have never read through the entire Bible, so this year I have made it one of my goals. One way I am doing this is by using the “Chronological Bible Reading Plan” on the YouVersion app. I have mainly been selecting audio option and listening to it. I am excited about doing this and I might not make it through in a year’s time, but at least I am making progress in trying to read listen through the entire Bible.
What I’m Wearing: This sweatshirt I ordered off of Amazon. It has pockets! I got this color and have had so many compliments on it. It is so comfy!
What I’m Doing This Weekend: I have an oil change scheduled on Saturday and then sometime this weekend I need to find time to start on our taxes. I am a CPA, but I dislike doing taxes so much! My father-in-law has done our taxes ever since we’ve been married, so this is the first year that I’m going to do them. I’ve decided that I need to do them in order to be somewhat familiar with the tax code because people ask me questions about taxes ALL the time and I have no idea what to tell them because I haven’t done them in years!!!
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month: Next month, my sister and I are finally getting to do a Sister’s Weekend (this was supposed to be my birthday present from Robert back in September, but due to personal things that happened we weren’t able to do it then, so we are finally getting to do it…just in time for Amanda’s birthday!). We are going to go to Tulsa for two nights and just hang out and shop…no kids and no significant others. I am so excited!!!
What Else Is New: Robert has taken on his boss’ position for an interim time and it has greatly increased his workload and the hours he has been working. So this has caused a little bit of change for our family since he gets home later and then sometimes has to work when he gets home or has to work on the weekends. But we are making it and it is such a good opportunity for him!
Until next time…keep it simple.
