I’m linking up with Shay of Mix and Match Mama for one of my favorites link-ups of the month.
What We’re Eating This Week:
We’ve had Taco Salad the past two nights for dinner and tonight I’m going to make Chicken Marinara. The rest of the week I haven’t figured out yet.
What I’m Reminiscing About:
When Robert and I first started dating. That was such a sweet and fun time and life just seemed a lot simpler back then. I wouldn’t trade my life now for anything, but the “wooing” days sure were special.
What I’m Loving:
Not washing my hair everyday. I used to think I had to wash my hair everyday because I put a lot of product in it when I wear it curly, but I’ve learned (just recently) that even though I would use a lot of conditioner, washing it dries it out and curly haired people need moisture! So I’ve cut back to only washing it every two to three days a week and it has helped tremendously! I do rinse it with water daily because I feel like I have to have wet hair to make my hair do anything properly. Maybe someday I’ll get away from that, but for now not having to shampoo and condition every day has been super nice!
What We’ve Been Up To:
Being sick. For the past couple of weeks at least one person in our family has been sick with the dreaded cold virus. I got a double whammy of strep and the cold, so it’s been fun to say the least.
Something that has been fun is that Emmalyn’s 100th day of school was yesterday. They celebrated by dressing up as old people and I may be biased, but Emmalyn looks like a pretty cute little old lady!
And then just because I don’t want to leave Claire out…today they were having a pajama party at her school. Doesn’t she look adorable?
What I’m Dreading:
Another couple months of wet, cold weather. This is the first year that I am ready for Spring to be here already!
What I’m Working On:
Nothing much. I had such lofty goals for the month to get started on things and then sickness hit and all my motivation has left me. At least there is always next month to start over with, right?!?
What I’m Excited About:
This weekend…just being able to relax at home.
What I’m Watching/Reading:
Watching: So there is a new show on HGTV called “Fixer to Fabulous” and it filmed here in Northwest Arkansas. It’s been neat getting to watch it and see some familiar landmarks in it. Also, Robert has a really good friend that is a builder located here in NWA and he was on an episode of “House Hunters” that aired recently, so that was pretty awesome getting to see him on TV!
Reading: Check back on Friday to see what I read in January!
What I’m Listening To:
I’ve been really enjoying the She Reads Truth podcast recently. Raechel Myers and Amanda Bible Williams seem so down to earth and I love how much they love God’s Word. They inspire me to get into the Bible and want to be as excited about it as they are!
What I’m Wearing:
All the warm clothes!!! I don’t how it is where you are, but here in NWA it has finally turned cold and dreary!
What I’m Doing This Weekend:
Hopefully staying at home and relaxing and playing with my girls!
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month:
Valentines Day! Getting to see the girls get excited about it is just so fun!
What Else Is New:
So a few months ago I went and got a bunch of labs done because I was just not feeling “right” and just weird stuff was going on, like my hair falling out and just feeling achy everywhere. Come to find out I have hypothyrodism/Hashimoto’s disease and so I was put on some thyroid medication (the genetic brand). Well, I went back to get labs done again and they upped my dosage. So I had been taking the higher dosage for about a month and I noticed my face was breaking out in little red bumps (like rashy looking) and very itchy. I thought it was a citrus drink I had been drinking (I’m allergic to too much citrus) and so I stopped that. Well, that did nothing and my face continued to get worse. I finally put two and two together and realized it was my thyroid medicine that was making me break out and so the doctor switched me to the name brand thyroid medication, so I’m hoping I can tolerate that and my face will clear up and get back to normal! I will keep you posted.
Also if anyone has any thoughts or help on how to handle Hashimoto’s I would love to hear. I’ve been doing a little research and I have done my best to start cutting out/limiting gluten for the past couple of months and have noticed that has helped how I feel a lot…but would love to know more and how to manage it better.
Until next time…keep it simple!
