Linking up with Shay at Mix and Match Mama for her “What’s Up Wednesdays” monthly post.
What We’re Eating This Week:
Monday – Taco Soup
Tuesday – $.99 tacos from a local Mexican place plus cheese dip (of course!) *side note – I have introduced cheese dip to the girls and they love it, especially Claire Bear!”
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – either One Pot Cheesy Chicken Broccoli Rice Casserole or Instant Pot BBQ Chicken on baked potatoes and then leftovers.
What I’m Reminiscing About:
Remembering when it was easy to go to a restaurant and sit down to eat. I’m getting to the point where I am ready for a date night to go somewhere to sit down and eat. We have not done that in about a year and usually I’m fine with just getting take out and bringing it home, but I am just ready for a date night to go somewhere. I’m starting to sound like I’m old…remember the olden days when we used to go….fill in the blank. Ha!
What I’m Loving:
I went to a curly hair specialist a couple of weeks ago and she gave me some tips on how to make my hair more curly and told me about a (new-to-me) product line of hair products to help achieve that. The brand is Innersense and I am loving it so far! The shampoo smells wonderful and my hair feels so soft after I shampoo and condition! I can’t get it to look as good as she did, but I am practicing and it gets a little closer every time.
What We’ve Been Up To:
We went to the cabin two times this past month. We actually went on a hike one of the times and we all had a great time. We found a little surprise on the way. It’s not the best picture, but do you see the little Army man? We couldn’t decide if someone left it there on purpose or maybe a little boy dropped it. We just took a picture and left it alone.
It might have been a little too long for Claire, but she did a great job. She was quite excited when we got to the end and she saw the truck though…she took off singing and skipping towards it. This hike tuckered Tucker out!
Looking forward to getting to do more hikes as the girls get older!
What I’m Dreading:
My dad and Robert’s dad will be having surgery in February about two weeks apart.
What I’m Excited About:
That January is over. January was a hard month for me work-wise at my new job. I had to do all the year-end stuff and it was my first time doing it all, so it was stressful and slow-going for me…but the light is at the end of the tunnel. The year-end financials are completed and I’m planning on mailing the W-2/1099 information and the contribution statements tomorrow and then things should slow down considerably!
What I’m Watching/Reading:
Watching:
Fixer to Fabulous – has been my show I look forward to watching each week the past couple of months!
Enola Holmes – really enjoyed this!
Christmas in the Smokies – cute!
Operation Christmas Drop – cute!
The Crown – just started watching. I had started it about a year ago and couldn’t get into it, but looking forward to trying it again because it seems like everyone is raving about it especially since the new season has come out.
Reading:
Come back in a couple of days and check out the books I read in January. There were a couple of ones I really enjoyed!!!
What I’m Listening To:
I’ve been so busy and needing to concentrate at work that I haven’t really been listening to many podcasts lately. But the ones I try to listen to each week are “Big Boo Cast”, “Sorta Awesome”, “What Should I Read Next”, She Reads Truth”, “Work and Play with Nancy Ray” and “The Girls Next Door” podcasts.
However…there is one song that has been on repeat in our house/car for the past month and that is “What a Man Ought to Know” by Lainey Wilson. Claire absolutely loves this song and asks for it at least once a day, usually more. It is the best to hear her sing it and see her dance to it. These are the moments I try to pay attention to and commit to memory…I want to remember her and Emmalyn singing and dancing around the living room at ages 3 and 6!
What I’m Wearing:
My sister talked me into getting a pair of joggers from Zyia Active (I don’t think these are the exact ones I have, but they are close) and I love them! They are so comfortable and I feel like they make me look somewhat in style.
What I’m Doing This Weekend:
Hopefully going through rooms and closets trying to clean up and get rid of things.
What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month:
Nothing much really. Just ready for both of our dads’ surgeries to be behind us and for them to be recovered.
What Else Is New:
We are in the process of redecorating our living room and I am loving it! We are a little over halfway done and now we are just waiting for the rest of our furniture, curtains, and art pieces to be delivered sometime in the next few weeks. I’ll try to remember to post pictures when it’s completed!
Until next time…keep it simple!

I hope both the dads’ surgeries go well. I miss going out on dates too.
