Linking up with Shay at Mix and Match Mama for her “What’s Up Wednesdays” monthly post.
What We’re Eating This Week:
One night we’ll have Manwich (a.k.a. Sloppy Joes). This is one meal the whole family enjoys! And then one night I’m going to make a sheet pan dinner of sausage, potatoes, and green beans. I made it a couple of weeks ago and it was so yummy! I got the recipe from Jamie Ivey’s website and it is so simple and easy to make.
What I’m Reminiscing About:
Well, yesterday was my last day as an accountant for a city government near where I live. So for the last week or so, I have been walking down memory lane and reminiscing about the past almost nine years of working there. I feel like this job, more than any other job is where I have come into myself…I passed the CPA exam while there, had my two girls while there, walked through a couple of very tough family situations while there…and had so many coworkers turned friends that helped me so much through all of that. It was hard to say Bye, but it was time. I’ll share more in a future post about everything that went into making this decision to leave there.
What I’m Loving:
My new water cup!!! I have been wanting this cup for awhile now, but it has been sold out at Wal-Mart.com for so long. Last week I looked again and finally it was in stock. I love it! It’s a great size, your water stays cold, and the design on it is just so fun! My one and only complaint about it, is that it is too big to fit into a cup holder in the car, but other than that I love it!
When I first got it, Robert made fun of me for it (because it’s so big), but then he looked at it a little more and decided he wanted to order himself one as well, so he ordered the plain black one and he has ended up liking it too! I also talked my sister into getting one like mine and hers came yesterday and she also is loving it!
What We’ve Been Up To:
Just staying home. We bought the girls an inflatable pool for $25…how can you beat that? The one I’ve linked isn’t the exact one we got, but it’s very similar and the past couple of weekends they have been enjoying playing in it. I’ve also gotten in with them a couple of times and it is definitely nice to sit in and cool off on a hot day!
What I’m Dreading:
So what I’m dreading is going to be the same thing I’m excited about. I am dreading starting a new job…it’s always hard trying to learn a new place, new people, new processes, what all the job duties are, etc…
What I’m Excited About:
Same as above…my new job!!! This is totally a God thing and I have felt such a peace about it and know it’s “The Next Right Thing” for me and my family. It is a part-time position as a Finance Manager for a church and I couldn’t be more excited about it!
What I’m Watching/Reading:
Watching: Honestly not much here lately. One thing I don’t think I’ve mentioned is that every morning (whether it be a school day or stay home day), is that I sit and hold Claire for a little while first thing in the morning while she watches her latest obsession (lately it’s been Frozen, but we’ve been through Boss Baby, Tangled, Moana, Fancy Nancy, etc… weeks as well) and drinks her milk. Some mornings (especially on school days) it’s hard to make it happen because we are running late, but we still do it even if it is only for a couple of minutes, and honestly it is one of my favorite parts of the day. I keep wondering when she’ll stop wanting to do it, but I will continue it for as long as she’ll let me!
edit – I totally forgot!!! I watched “Sweet Magnolias” at the beginning of the month and I enjoyed it so much! I can’t wait for the next season to come out! I admit…the first few episodes where a little painful to watch because the acting was somewhat awkward there for a bit, but they finally hit their stride and it got so much better! If you’re looking for a sweet show to watch, highly recommend it!
Reading: I just posted my May Reading Lately post this week and have started working on my June post already. I’m still hooked on The Virgin River series…surprise, surprise. I’m sad because I have a couple of days off between jobs and I’m on the waitlist for the next couple of books in the series. I’m hoping they’ll magically become available today or tomorrow and I can dive back into the small town life of Virgin River. :o)
What I’m Listening To:
Not much. Been too busy wrapping up work stuff and training someone to take my position over that I haven’t had time to listen to much. However, I did listen to a couple of short episodes from Christy Wright’s podcast (the episodes in the “Be True to You” series – mainly the ones on “Willing to Be Humbled” and “Being Willing to Let Go“…and boy did they both hit the nail on the head as to what I’ve been going through the past 6 months. They spoke to me and encouraged me so much and I will be listening to them again!
What I’m Wearing:
For the next couple of days…comfy shorts and t-shirts!!!
What I’m Doing This Weekend:
Nothing planned. Hopefully the weather will be nice and we can set up the pool (see above) again and let the girls enjoy it some more!
What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month:
Starting my new job!!! And watching some 4th of July fireworks!!!
What Else Is New:
Umm…check back next month, because there might be a surprise of something little and covered in fur coming to our house. Here’s a little hint…
That’s all I’m going to say about it for now…
Until next time…keep it simple!

Congrats on your new job! This indeed does sound both exciting and dreadful. I can totally understand you’ve been reminiscing a lot.
It’s lovely that you try to hold onto these bonding moments with Claire for as long as possible.

Oh, job changes are always hard and exciting! I hope it goes so well for you!
And our pool opens tomorrow but we can only sign up for two, one hour time slots per week, so I’m thinking we might need to invest in a backyard little pool for the in between times. Ugh.
