I can’t believe how fast this month flew by…it’s time for another What’s Up Wednesday post already. Craziness! I enjoy linking up with Shay at “Mix and Match Mama” to record what we’ve been up to this month.
What We’re Eating This Week: I was good last week and came up with dinner ideas for this week, but then realized that we will only be home 2 out of the 5 nights this week, so I guess my meal planning will be saved for next week.
Monday – My grandmother and aunts came into town, so the girls and I went and ate with them at Olive Garden (one of Emmalyn’s favorite places).
Tuesday – It’s ballet night, so it will probably be chicken nuggets and mac and cheese.
Wednesday – I am going to my sister-in-law’s baby shower, so Robert will be on his own with the girls. I might suggest to him about stopping to get tacos.
Thursday – Maybe One Pot Beefy Broccoli Rice. I’ve made this one time before and the whole family enjoyed it (Emmalyn has even – out of the blue – asked me to make it again soon).
Friday – Emmalyn has a birthday party to go to, so I bet they have pizza there and then Robert, Claire, and I will have the leftovers from Thursday night.
What I’m Reminiscing About: This time of year I always get sentimental and start thinking of my girls and their births because their birthdays are in March and May.
What I’m Loving: I’ve been trying out some eye cream from Mary Kay. My sister-in-law sells it and I asked to try some and I really am liking it a lot and think it is starting to make a difference.
What We’ve Been Up To: This past weekend the girls and I went to my dad’s and went to the Amazeum (a children’s museum sponsored by Walmart – since we are in Walmart country here). We had a good weekend spending it with dad.
What I’m Dreading: I have a semi-important phone call next week and I’m pretty nervous about it. But other than that, nothing else on the horizon.
What I’m Working On: There is a mom whose kids go to our daycare and she is so intentional about things. She is intentional about teaching her kids and explaining things to them, she is intentional in reaching out to people and asking how can she help pray for them (I know because I was the recipient of this, this past week). Seeing her interact with her kids and seeing how intentional she is about things just makes me want to work on that myself.
What I’m Excited About: I’m going down to my sister’s for a night this weekend to celebrate her 30th birthday with her and a couple of her close friends. I’m looking forward to getting to spend time with her (especially now during a hard family time we are having).
What I’m Watching/Reading:
- Watching: I haven’t been watching anything lately. We might turn on American Idol for background noise, but other that I haven’t really gotten to sit down and watch anything recently.
- Reading: I’ve read quite a few books for the month of March, but I’m starting to slow down again. I go through cycles where I’ll be able to get a lot of reading done and then it transitions to maybe 4-5 pages at night before I fall asleep and the Kindle lands on my head. :o) I admit, I have about 4 books in progress right now all at once, so I am focusing on trying to get at least 2 of those completed by the end of the month. Hopefully I’ll be able to get them finished. Check back sometime in the next couple of weeks to see my March reads…there were a couple of fun reads this month!
What I’m Listening To: I listened to a cute audio book, “The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper” this month and promptly downloaded another one from the same author because I enjoyed it so much. I haven’t started it yet, because I’ve been saving it for the drive down to my sister’s this weekend. My podcast listening has slowed down this month, because I have been trying to be more intentional about choosing what I am listening to instead of just listening just because.
What I’m Wearing: Just my same old, same old. The weather has been back on forth from cold to warm, so it’s a guessing game on a daily basis. I downloaded the app “Cladwell” and am hoping to some time upload some of my clothes in it so maybe it can help me come up with some new clothes combinations so I don’t feel like I’m wearing the “same old, same old” every day.
What I’m Doing This Weekend: Going down to my sister’s to celebrate her being a new decade!!! :o)
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month: Celebrating Easter! I am looking for ways to share about the meaning of Easter with my girls. If anyone has any good, fun, and meaningful crafts/activities to do with young kids, please send them my way!
What Else is New: Something has happened in my family (mom, dad, sister, and I) that has just rocked our world. It has the potential to turn good, but right now we all are hurting deeply and it’s bringing to light a lot of things. I hope to have the courage to share here some day, but right now I’m struggling to process things myself and am not really ready to put into words what I’m feeling just yet. If you have a moment, please pray for peace, comfort, and clarity for my family. God and prayer are the only things that will get us through this. I appreciate it more than you know. Thank you.
Until next time…keep it simple!
