- Thursday – Chicken Pot Pies for Emmalyn and Robert / Shepherd’s Pies for Claire and I
- Friday – No Clue
What I’m Reminiscing About:
I’m sure I’m reminiscing about the same thing everyone is reminiscing about…this month last year. Just about how our world changed and we never anticipated this pandemic lasting this long. I know good things have come from this time, but this past year has definitely felt “heavy”.
What I’m Loving:
Honestly…I’ve been loving my Write the Word Journal this month. This month has been a hard month with the year anniversary of the pandemic, my dad having surgery to remove the tumor and finding out more bad news, Robert being very stressed with a big project at his work…this month has just been a lot emotionally for me and I have found so much comfort this month in writing out Scripture. It’s hard to find the time, but I find that when I do…I feel peace.
What We’ve Been Up To:
The beginning of the month we celebrated Emmalyn’s birthday. We kept her home from school and spent the day with her and Claire. We went to a couple of playgrounds, she requested a Strawberry Salad from Marketplace for dinner, petit-fours instead of cake, and opened her presents of roller skates, a stuffed animal Koala, a doll and doll clothes, and a couple other random items. She had such great day!
Last week was Spring Break for Arkansas schools. Last weekend we went down to my Sister’s and spent a long weekend there. My mom came down and we celebrated my sister’s and Emmalyn’s birthdays. We took the kids to the zoo, went and ate hibachi, and went back to my Sister’s house and made a pallet/tent on the floor and watched Raya and the Last Dragon. Then on Sunday we went over to my Dad’s house and celebrated my Sister and Emmalyn with cake and just hung out. It was a good weekend and nice to see my family (even though it is still strange having to do one thing with Mom and then another thing with Dad separately because of the divorce).
While we were at Dad’s I asked my grandmother if she would cut the girls’ hair. She used to own her own hair salon and did hair up until she retired. She is staying with my Dad to help him during all this chemo and surgery. It is such a blessing to have her there…it helps give me and my sister some peace of mind knowing there is someone there watching out for him. Anyways…I just think it is neat that the girls and Tristan are able to get their hair cut by their great-grandmother and am so thankful to have these pictures.
What I’m Dreading:
We found out that my dad is going to have to do another round of chemo and I am just hating that for him. He just had surgery a couple of weeks ago to remove a tumor and they thought that would be the end of it…but it’s not. I’m just dreading it so much for him.
What I’m Working On:
Working on trying to get 7,500 steps almost every day the month of April.
What I’m Excited About:
Springtime! It’s been so nice having the sun out and warmer temperatures. I love getting to be outdoors with Tucker and my girls!
What I’m Watching/Reading:
Watching: The Razorbacks make it to the Elite Eight. Our family is still on the Fixer Upper kick before bedtime. Also, I just started the second season of The Crown (yes, I’m moving slowly through this series…I just don’t have a lot of “time” to watch shows these days).
Reading: Check out my Reading Lately – February 2021 post. Come back soon and check out what I’ve read in March.
What I’m Listening To:
A lot of the Frozen 2 soundtrack. My girls are stuck on this soundtrack for some reason.
What I’m Wearing:
Layers because the weather is in that weird in between stage. One day the high is 75 and the next day the high might be 45. That is just Arkansas weather for you.
What I’m Doing This Weekend:
Well, Claire’s daycare is closed on Friday, so we are just going to hang out the two of us. I’m really looking forward to that because I don’t get much one on one time with just her. I also get my 2nd dose of the vaccine on Friday, so I’m curious to see if it affects me in any way. On Saturday, Robert’s dad was able to get us tickets to his work’s box for the Razorback baseball game. I am sooo looking forward to this! I haven’t been to a Razorback baseball game in years and I used to love getting to go to them. There is something so relaxing about them, not to mention our team is doing quite well this season! On Sunday with it being Easter, we typically go over to Robert’s parents house and eat lunch with all of his family. I’m sure some time over the weekend we will try to go visit my mom for a little bit too.
What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month:
Next month Robert and I will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. 10 years!!! So crazy! I can’t believe that…feels like it should just be like 4 or 5 years. I don’t think we are doing anything too big to celebrate…we both aren’t big celebrators and also the day after our anniversary is Claire’s birthday, so our focus is mainly on getting ready to celebrate her.
What Else Is New:
We finally received all our furniture for our living/dining room. I’ll have to do a post on the before and after. We are loving the new look!
Until next time…keep it simple!

I’m belatedly catching up on my What’s Up Wednesday reading. Happy 10th Anniversary! Even if you’re not doing anything big to celebrate, it’s still exciting! And I hope your dad comes through all his surgery and chemo okay. I can’t imagine how stressful that must be. I’m sorry you’re going through that right now.
