Today I am linking up with Shay at “Mix and Match Mama” with the What’s Up Wednesday link-up. This is one of my favorite posts I try to do every month. I think it will be fun to go back and look through these and see what was going on in life during this past year.
What We’re Eating This Week: I’ve had to stay at work late for some meetings this week, so Robert and the girls have pretty much been on their own for dinner. I have done a poor job of meal planning the past couple of weeks. This might should be an “Intention” of mine to focus on in the new year…just sayin’.
What I’m Reminiscing About: Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about my public accounting auditing jobs I had at the beginning of my career. They were very stressful and I worked too many hours a week, but I really enjoyed the actual work and getting to travel and meet new clients. I really like my job that I have now, but I do wonder what my life would look like now had I stayed in public accounting.
What I’m Loving: I’m a little embarrassed to admit this…but I have really enjoyed watching the “Amazon Favorites” of vloggers on YouTube. It’s just fun to see the unique items people have found on Amazon and have enjoyed. It’s like window shopping for Amazon sort of. Also, I got to read quite a bit over the Thanksgiving holiday and that was so nice. I have tried to limit social media this month (except for the aforementioned videos – Ha!) and really tried to be intentional about picking up my book first instead of my phone. Reading is one of my favorite relaxing things to do and just makes me feel better as a person when I get to spend time doing it.
What We’ve Been Up To: Nothing much honestly. We got to stay home a lot over the Thanksgiving break (other than yummy Thanksgiving dinners at parents’ houses) and it was restful/relaxing and very much needed by the entire family!
What I’m Dreading: I am dreading the 8-9 hour drive to and from Tennessee for Christmas with all my extended family (both my mom and dad’s families) in a couple of weeks. Please hear me…I am not in any way dreading the “trip/visit”, just dreading the “drive”. Hopefully it will be better than Robert and I are anticipating and the girls will do much better than we think they will. We have done this once or twice since Emmalyn was born, but this will be Claire’s first long road trip and let’s say she isn’t the biggest fan of the car.
What I’m Working On: Christmas shopping. This year I am so behind on shopping and planning for Christmas. I just can not seem to get going with it. I really enjoy Christmas, but all the commercialism and “buy this, buy that” mentality is really getting to me and stresses me out. I feel like everyone is pushing some product or service everywhere I turn and I just feel overwhelmed and bogged down by it all. I’m trying to cut some of that from my life and just focus on what is right and best for my family.
What I’m Excited About: Getting to see Christmas through Emmalyn and Claire’s eyes. I think this year Emmalyn will really enjoy the wonder and beauty of Christmas and Claire will start to grasp a little bit of it, so I am excited to experience it with them.
What I’m Watching/Reading:
- Watching: See above….vloggers’ Amazon Favorites on YouTube. Also, over Thanksgiving I was able to get caught up on “This Is Us”.
- Reading: Check back for my Book Report post for November sometime coming up in the next couple of weeks.
What I’m Listening To: Podcasts when I can…we also have been listening to more music at home in the evenings. Robert has been turning it on while we’ve been cooking or just sitting around playing with the girls.
What I’m Wearing: Varies day to day. One day fall-like clothes, the next…heavy sweaters and boots. The weather here in AR has been crazy lately. One day it’s sunny and in the 70’s and the next the high is 30 with freezing rain.
What I’m Doing This Weekend: Hopefully setting up our Christmas tree and maybe doing some Christmas shopping. I do have a baby shower to go to on Sunday for a sweet girl that works downstairs. But other than that, nothing too crazy!
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month: Christmas!!!
What Else Is New: Claire got glasses this past month and she looks adorable in them!!!
