Happy October!!! I think that October is starting to be one of my favorite months of the year!
What We’re Eating This Week: I have become hooked on Bob’s Red Mill Oatmeal Cups.
They are super easy to make in the morning at work, taste good, and keep me feeling full throughout the morning. I do add a little bit of honey to it and that makes it even more yummy!
What I’m Reminiscing About: Sleep. So ironic…my “What I’m Loving” from September was sleep and I guess I jinxed myself by listing that because the past few weeks since then have been rough. Claire has had a cold and she has been waking up EVERY night and I nurse her and we sleep in the chair in her room (my back is killing me from having to that every night). In addition, Emmalyn also has been waking up and getting in bed with us and she has started kicking and kicking hard…so yeah that’s been fun.
What I’m Loving: Robert and I went to Tulsa (see next paragraph) and we went to a couple of different shops and I got a warm and cozy blanket from Pottery Barn and some pretty Kendra Scott earrings. These are two things I’ve been wanting for over a year and it was so fun to finally get them and I love them!!!
What We’ve Been Up To: A few of weekends ago my parents, my sister and her baby, and me and my girls went to a pumpkin patch. We had a lot of fun (post coming soon)!
Also, Robert has taken on a new role at work which is requiring him to work over 12 hour days and weekends, so I feel like I’ve been solo parenting ever since he went on his 10 day work trip at the beginning of this month and to tell the truth…it’s getting old. Hopefully it will last a few more weeks and then it will be better. Since we knew this was coming…a couple of weekends ago Robert and I took a quick overnight trip to Tulsa. It was so nice to get away and just have a little date night, just the two of us. We went to a wonderful steakhouse and had delicious dinner!!! This little trip was something I needed and it was refreshing!
Last Friday two co-workers/friends and I took off work and went craft fairing. Every year our area has craft fairs at multiple locations. The most well-known location you might have heard about is the craft fair at War Eagle Mill.
This particular craft fair has been going on for years because I remember going with my parents when I was a little girl. It was so fun! I didn’t buy much just a couple of decorative signs, a shirt, and some yummy food items, but half the fun in going is walking around and seeing everything and people watching. It was lots of fun and we already put us down to take off for next year!!!
What I’m Dreading: The next few weeks of Robert having to work long hours and weekends. But in the long run this is a good thing for our family, but it’s going to be challenging here in the short term for awhile.
What I’m Working On: I am working on being motivated to go workout on my lunch hour. I joined a gym that is close to my work and want to begin going and working out during my lunch break. They have fitness classes at lunchtime and I am trying to get myself pumped up to go to one of them. It is so hard to be the newbie and walk in by yourself (especially when you are so out of shape like I am), but I know once I go and try a class a few times I will enjoy it. Even if I don’t end up doing any classes, they have ellipticals, treadmills, bikes, weights, weight machines, etc…that I can do. I just need to begin doing something again and the only time I feel like I can incorporate exercise into my day right now is during my lunch hour. So I am working on motivating myself to at least go twice a week, possibly three times a week to start with and then maybe increasing it in the future.
What I’m Excited About: Launch of the 2018 Powersheets!
I got my first full year set last year and I love them. I admit that I did more with them at the beginning of the year and I slacked off when I had Claire and was off on maternity leave, but I’m slowly incorporating them back in my life. i can’t say enough good things about them. They really help you to uncover what goals are important in your life and help you make little by little progress on them. Lara Casey and the whole Cultivate team does a wonderful job of encouraging you throughout the year. Go check them out at the Cultivate What Matters website, you won’t regret it!
What I’m Watching/Reading:
- Watching: Nothing. I have not had any time to watch anything. I am about 3 episodes behind on “This Is Us” (insert sad face). Hopefully I can catch up on that sometime soon!
- Reading: I’ve been reading The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry before bed and I am enjoying it so much! The storyline is really sweet so far and I am enjoying the references to books scattered throughout. I have also started Before We Were Yours and I think I’m going to like this one as well. The bad thing is that it’s due back at the library in a couple of days and I still have a while to go. Hoping I can keep it through the weekend and finish it and not rack up too much in fines!
What I’m Listening To: My usual favorite podcasts and lots of Instagram stories.
What I’m Wearing: Nothing to exciting…same old work clothes and then comfy clothes at home. However, it has turned off chilly, so maybe this weekend I will have some time to switch over my closet and dresser to my fall/winter clothes!
What I’m Doing This Weekend: There is a Fall Festival at the girls’ daycare this weekend. I had planned on us going, but I just looked at the weather and it’s going to be COLD that day (high of 44 degrees), so I don’t know if that is a smart thing for us to do and take Claire out in it with it being so cold.
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month: Thanksgiving!!!
What Else Is New: Nothing much…just trying to get through the next few weeks and then looking forward to the holidays!!!
Until next time…keep it simple.
